Weave Us Together

I kept thinking “I’ll get to it and finish it later,” and later never seemed to come, but it is finally complete.

It is a fitting bookend to the year that the weaving that was begun on Homecoming Sunday last September is now hanging next to our Covenant of Right Relations on a wall in the Fellowship Hall. (If you are new, you might want to read this article from the start of this project.)

To newcomers it might appear a jumbled mess, but it would not be an accurate metaphor to only display the smooth side of the weaving. The knots are exposed because that is where the care is taken, those are our connections that need attention to stay tied.

Some Sundays during our Joys and Concerns we sing the following:

Weave, weave, weave us together.
Weave us together in unity and love.

May this hanging remind us all that it is our collective work to do that will hold the shape of the community.

See you on Sunday!
