Faith Development Activities
Looking for ways to connect and deepen your relationship with Live Oak? Remember, you can find information about events on our What’s Happening page, here.
Here are this week’s updates:
Vespers – NEW this Thursday from 7-7:30. (all ages) Join ministerial and faith development staff as they alternate leading brief vespers services on Thursday evenings. We will come together in live space to share some ritual elements of worship.
Letters for Bridging Seniors: Please remember to write a note of wisdom, encouragement, or congratulations to our bridging high school seniors — Kat Schwab and Lily Crawford. You can email those to me at dlfd at liveoakuu dot org. (videos are welcome, too.) Deadline is May 24th (this Sunday). A bridging worship service is on hold for the time being, hoping we can do it live before the fall.
Faith Like a River – NEW starting this Tuesday, 5/19. (Adults and older teens) Looking for a chance to learn more about Unitarian Universalist history? Join Carrie on Tuesday mornings, 9:30 – 11, May 19 – June 23, for 6 sessions in this 16 part series. Faith Like a River explores the dynamic course of Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist (UU) history—the people, ideas, and movements that have shaped our faith heritage. It invites participants to place themselves into our history and consider its legacies. What lessons do the stories of our history teach that can help us live more faithfully in the present? What lessons do they offer to be lived into the future?
Homework from Session One HERE.
Preparation for Session Two HERE.
We will regroup at the end of June and consider whether to continue with more sessions. Registration is not required, but for planning purposes, if you are interested in participating, please complete the form found here.
Family Faith Development – (all ages) Recognizing that families are at different levels of busy, chaos, and in some cases, are in need of something to do together, I have created weekly take home RE for the entire family. This is an opportunity to connect around a story and ritual and to bring Unitarian Universalism into your home in an intentional learning time of your choosing. Each week you will find the new session link in this newsletter post and on Facebook. If you utilize the materials, I encourage you to take what speaks to your age child/youth, and leave the rest. For those who decide to engage in these sessions, I hope you find them helpful. I’d love to see pictures of video of your family engaging in learning together.
Session Four – May 24, The Everything Seed
Meditation Mondays with Carrie – (all ages) Come as you are on Monday mornings for a brief check-in, meditation time and time to set your intentions for the week. We gather from 7-7:30. Meeting space will be closed at 7:10 when we begin our meditation.
Weekly Check-in:
Weekly gatherings over zoom continue. Registered families will find the zoom links for all meetings in their email and also in the FB groups for Live Oak. If you aren’t registered but are interested in joining, please email dlfd at liveoakuu dot org.
Have an idea for a one time or ongoing online gathering that you are willing to lead? Let us know and we can help you get it scheduled and publicized. And be sure to follow us on Facebook and subscribe to the newsletter for opportunities for online engagement.
*See* you throughout the week,
Carrie
