Letters for Bridging Seniors: Deadline is June 28.
Please remember to write a note of wisdom, encouragement, or congratulations to our bridging high school seniors — Kat Schwab and Lily Crawford. You can email those to me at dlfd at liveoakuu dot org. (videos are welcome, too.) We are in the process of planning a virtual bridging worship service, so stay tuned and get those letters in!
Faith Like a River – Tuesdays, 9:30 – 11, May 19 – June 23 (Adults and older teens) Looking for a chance to learn more about Unitarian Universalist history? Faith Like a River explores the dynamic course of Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist (UU) history—the people, ideas, and movements that have shaped our faith heritage. It invites participants to place themselves into our history and consider its legacies. What lessons do the stories of our history teach that can help us live more faithfully in the present? What lessons do they offer to be lived into the future?
Each session can stand alone, so join when you can. There is some preparatory reading for each session so we can spend more time in discussion. Each week you will find the assignments in this post.

We will regroup at the end of June and consider whether to continue with more sessions.
Discussion on Policing and Law Enforcement – Monday, June 22, 7:00 pm. You will be asked to view a couple of videos prior to joining the meeting. We will look at local organizations already doing the work and then consider where we can be the most effective in helping them address reform in our community. Register in advance for this meeting:

Just Mercy – On Sunday, June 28 we will be showing and discussing the film “Just Mercy” via Zoom. The film portrays the true story of Bryan Stevenson working as a lawyer defending those wrongly condemned and those not afforded proper representation. The film exposes the racism inherent in our systems of justice. If you have not yet seen the film, join us at 3:00 to watch it on Zoom. Everyone who has seen the film (on their own or with us) may join us at 7:00 for a facilitated discussion. We will be discussing the film version, so if you have read the book, please watch the film prior to joining our discussion.
Family Faith Development – (all ages) The majority of families are not asking for more to-dos over the summer. The Children and Youth RE team is considering a new way to engage children and youth once a week for fun and fellowship, and once a month for a dedicated RE learning time focused on anti-racism, with follow-up activities. Stay tuned for exact dates and times. We will resume our weekly check-ins/fun time the last week of June (6/24 & 6/25).

Meditation Mondays with Carrie – (all ages) Come as you are on Monday mornings for a brief check-in, meditation time and time to set your intentions for the week. We gather from 7-7:30. Meeting space will be closed at 7:10 when we begin our meditation.
