Faith Development 7.6.20 to 7.12.20

Funny thing about thinking outside the box, it takes the time to do it and the space to do it. Staff has been responding to everything that is happening in our world, providing worship, resources, pastoral care, and connection. I can only speak for myself — I am tired. Reactive programming only works for so long and I’ve reached the time when I need to step up to the balcony and get a bigger view. I’ll be on study leave this week, working closely with Reverend Joanna to consider what the next year will look like for our faith development as a congregation. What works for us as a congregation balanced with what is sustainable for me as a staff member is just one metric that I will be using. By the end of July, I anticipate a plan for how to move forward in my area of ministry, but some of that planning will depend on you. Watch for questions coming out of my study leave that will help me facilitate programming that fulfills our mission: Embrace Joy, Enrich Connection, Encourage Growth, and Empower Dreams.

Faith Development Activities

Looking for ways to connect and deepen your relationship with Live Oak? Remember, you can find information about events on our What’s Happening page, here.

Faith Like a River is on hiatus until the end of the summer. We had a great time gathering to discuss moments in Unitarian Universalist history and the lessons those stories have taught us. The final session’s Homework can be found here.

Family Faith Development – (all ages) July is a typically a quiet time for our faith development programming. Our monthly RE program will start in August. Stay tuned for more information on how we will roll out online faith formation for children and youth on Sunday afternoons.

In the meantime you can use the summer curriculum: Summer UU Bucket List. Be sure to post your pictures of the activities you engage in. #LOUUSummerFD

Meditation Mondays with Carrie – (all ages) Come as you are on Monday mornings for a brief check-in, meditation time and time to set your intentions for the week. We gather from 7-7:30. Meeting space will be closed at 7:10 when we begin our meditation.
