Or sort of…
I’ve been thinking about all you families out there, making sacrifices to make online learning work, or making the decision to send your child back to in-person school. Here is the blessing I offered on 8/16 for families.
A Blessing for Starting School
Blessings on your home, where your children learn and play, and you attempt to work.
Blessings for your internet connection and your wifi, and may you find the links you need to join that class or meeting.
Blessings on the desktops, laptops, tablets, phones. May they power up when you need them and stay free of any virus.
Blessings for those who are staying home–
With family or without,
In the dark,
In pjs with a nice shirt,
Hair – well, let’s not talk about it,
Trying to find a video background that doesn’t give away the chaos around you,
Worried, fearful, bored, tired, frustrated,
With uncertainty about the decisions you have made.
Blessings for the young children who need you at the drop of a hat and make their presence known in a loud and insistent way during that one work meeting you have today.
Blessings on the children attending school online, may you connect and learn, even in this strange time.
Blessings on the children attending school in person, stay safe.
Blessings for the pets who appear on the screen at just the right time, or walk across the keyboard typing a message to everyone.
Blessings on the meals you share together and the time you carve out to just be a family, or connect with family and friends virtually.
May you be blessed with moments of laughter, joy, and love as you start the school year.
Amen
Blessed Be
Asé
