Faith Development 4.26 to 5.2.21

What’s new or time-sensitive!

Adult Faith Development

Chalice Circles are wrapping up their current sessions this month and we will regroup with new circles in October. Mark your calendar.

Also, the Adult Faith Development team is looking for people willing to help with planning and implementing our learning groups next year. If you might be interested, please contact me for more information.

Faith Development for Families

This week in Sunday online RE classes:

  • 9:15 – 9:45 AM PreK Class will have a lesson about dreams
  • 11:30 – 12:15 AM Elementary and Middle School classes meet. This Sunday our elementary classes will view a Pixar short, The Legend of Mor’du. We are using a curriculum called CartUUns that consists of short Pixar and Disney animated shorts to spark conversations on UU values. Middle School continues their new lessons based on The Simpsons, using the cartoon to spark conversation on religious and ethical topics. This week’s episode is “The Joy of Sect.”
  • 11:30 – 12:15 AM Taking Flight 8th/9th Grade Sexuality Education continues

Can’t make the scheduled RE time? No worries. As we say, families are the primary religious educators. All lesson plans are available to registered families via Live Oak Padlet. (Registration link in sidebar.) Lesson plans on the site include optional activities for home related to each session.

Summer Planning

We are rapidly approaching summer and the Children and Youth RE team is considering what we might offer as virtual programming. If you have ideas that you would like to share with us, please send an email to childrensreteam-members@liveoakuu.org. A reminder that all programming requires volunteers and is dependent on adults willing to lead.

I’d love to hear from adults who have a passion for leading a virtual class or series of classes over the summer. Reach out to me and we can discuss your ideas.

As of now, there are no plans to meet in person over the summer months.

Don’t forget to visit the Parent Resource page on our website for ways to support your family.
