What’s new or time-sensitive!
Be sure to join our Wandering Flower Communion on the Live Oak campus, June 6, after the worship service. Bring some flowers to share and walk the Chalice Pathway to collect a flower someone else brought. We will not be opening the church building, and ask that people respect guidelines regarding social distancing, etc. While some of us have been vaccinated, not all have, and we want to make this event as safe as possible.
As of now, there are no plans for our elementary ages and up to meet online over the summer months, except for our Taking Flight Sexuality Education class which continues into August. Our children need a break from screen time and we still won’t be gathering in classrooms at Live Oak. However, our wonderful childcare coordinator, Ms Harmoni, will continue to offer an online family/children’s chapel beginning June 13. If you have a child ages birth – 7, please complete this brief poll to help us gauge interest and determine the best time to meet.
I hope to be able to offer a couple of age-specific outdoor gatherings or even an online movie night during the summer, but most of my time will be used in planning for how to enter the fall as a multi-platform program for all ages. What will work and what won’t, what do families, children, youth, elders need as we come out of this time of pandemic (knock on wood). Know that your board, safety team, and staff are looking closely at how we gather again in both a safe and inclusive way.
Finally, I invite everyone to begin thinking about how you can support programming when we come back together in September. What a gift it would be to have an abundance of classroom volunteers for all ages as we start up.
