Faith Development Activities

Looking for ways to connect and deepen your relationship with Live Oak? Remember, you can find information about events on our What’s Happening page, here.

I’m back from a productive study leave and gearing up for the new RE year. We will start with some classes in August for Children and Youth. The current plan is to offer these on Sundays, because that is the routine and because once school starts, the week will be full. Families can help with the scheduling by completing this survey. Yes, I know, another survey, but your responses will help with how we roll out online RE this fall!

Family Faith Development – (Children & Youth) Our RE program will start in August with an initial six sessions. Once we get into mid-September, our focus for the year will be anti-racism/anti-oppression learning together. Please complete the survey at the link above if you have children or youth in the program, as it will give me info to help with scheduling.

The basic plan is to gather each Sunday for “RE time” which includes chalice lighting, story, sharing, and dialogue. We will intentionally keep these brief. In addition, when you register for RE, you will receive information about a Padlet where you will find the lesson plan (in case you missed it) in addition to optional activities related to the session.

In the meantime you can use the summer curriculum: Summer UU Bucket List. Be sure to post your pictures of the activities you engage in. #LOUUSummerFD

Meditation Mondays with Carrie – (all ages) Come as you are on Monday mornings for a brief check-in, meditation time and time to set your intentions for the week. We gather from 7-7:30. Meeting space will be closed at 7:10 when we begin our meditation.

TEASERS for the FALL

Adult Faith Development – We have some exciting opportunities coming up this fall. What people are craving more than anything right now is connection. Chalice Circles are a great opportunity to engage with others in meaningful dialogue and help create smaller communities within the larger Live Oak community. These circles are small group ministry focused on deep listening and dialogue. A group of 6-10 people commit to meet twice a month, October – April. Facilitation materials for circles will be provided by Live Oak staff and groups will be created based on when people can meet. Groups will follow the guidelines for participation in a covenant group, which include committing to show up, sharing the time, and practicing listening. Watch for more about this and the signup to come in August.

Wellspring Sources is another opportunity for this year that requires a bigger commitment but is well worth it. This closed group meets twice monthly for 19 sessions to share deeply our responses and learnings from the readings and reflections. Next week you will see more information about Wellspring Sources, as well as a link to sign up for the program. This group will be limited to 10 people. Are you ready to go to a whole other level with your spirituality and your understanding of self and Unitarian Universalism? Have you been in leadership and need space to tend to your own spiritual life? This might be the right experience for you.

Have an idea for a one time or ongoing online gathering that you are willing to lead? Let us know and we can help you get it scheduled and publicized. And be sure to follow us on Facebook and subscribe to the newsletter for opportunities for online engagement.
