Faith Development 9.13 to 9.19.21

Faith Development for Families

It’s Here!

This Sunday, 9/19, will be our first in-person worship since March of 2020. People of all ages are invited to join us outdoors at 9:30 AM for worship, followed by fellowship time. And it is our annual ingathering service, so bring your water that you have collected during the past year. Greeters will be there to direct you to the worship area and help get you acclimated to our new setup. Everyone over the age of 2 should be masked and all who are eligible for the vaccine are expected to have been vaccinated. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. We also suggest you wear closed toed shoes — you will be in the grass where insects live.

For those who aren’t able to be with us in person for worship, worship will be live-streamed to our YouTube channel. You also have the opportunity to share your water in an onsite event after the service – similar to our previous drive-by gatherings. See your newsletter for more details from Rev. Joanna!

Fall Programming begins October 3

PreK (ages 3&up) will gather on the playground with Ms. Harmoni, masked and with at least one parent volunteer.

Older children and youth gather in the circle of trees near Common Ground and start approximately 10 minutes after worship ends.

Consider volunteering to lead elementary, middle or high school classes. And you won’t want to miss the all ages faith development class on October 3rd. It is the first in a series of spiritual practice sessions and the focus is on letting go!

Access to classrooms inside will not be available, but restrooms will be accessible. No nursery care is available. You, as a family, can decide your own comfort level in participating outdoors and masked. All volunteers and staff are required to be vaccinated to work with children at this time.

For those who cannot participate in person, I hope you have taken the time to check out the new In-home Faith Development page. Whether you attend in person or solely at home, these pages provide at home activities to deepen Unitarian Universalist identity. You can add to the collaborative playlist and send me pictures of your family engaged in the activities on the calendar. Each month a new scene will launch with new stories, a chalice lighting, calendar, and playlist for your to use. Family Focus: In Home Faith Development

I also invite you to join me for a brief Family Chapel on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM, starting October 7. The 30 minute chapel welcomes anyone who calls themselves a family to gather for a time of sharing, story and reflection. https://link.liveoakuu.org/Family-Chapel

Adults

You can visit the Adults Learning page on the website to see all the plans for the rest of 2021, as they currently stand. Of course, flexibility is key as we navigate our start to fall programming, but October 3 is the date to remember. I’ll share more about that all-ages class at a later date.

I encourage you to sign up for a Chalice Circles. These small groups are a great way to go deeper and get to know each other better. Sign-ups are now open for those as well.

Finally, I hope to be able to offer some online options for adults in addition to our Sunday morning gatherings. This will be a year of experiments again as I try to reach people both in person and at home. Some offerings may be a multi-platform class on Sunday morning, others will be strictly virtual at another time. Heads up — I will experiment with a dual-platform class on Sunday, October 17.

Please reach out to me if you are interested in helping facilitate, either online or in person.

Please note that the preceding schedule is subject to change based on COVID stages in our community and our staged gathering plan.

See you on Sunday,

Carrie, DLFD
