Faith Development Activities

Family Faith Development – (Children & Youth)

New to Live Oak? If you are interested in visiting a class, and are not registered for RE, please send me an email at dlfd@liveoakuu.org.

Attending and not already registered? A link for RE registration is in the right sidebar. After you register, you are added to an RE email list for your child’s age group. Registered families receive regular emails from me with zoom links and other information. Watch the welcome video on our faith development overview page for an explanation of how we gather each week.

We gather each Sunday for a chalice lighting, story, sharing, and dialogue. Younger children should be accompanied by an adult to help with technical issues. In addition, registered families receive information about a Live Oak Padlet that contains each week’s lesson plan (in case you missed it). The site includes optional activities for home related to the session. You can post pictures of your family doing the activities directly to the Padlet site, or share in one of our FB groups.

Chalice Circles

Are you ready to commit to regular gatherings focused on deeper listening to each other? Chalice Circles are small groups focused on meaningful connection. A group of 6-10 people commit to meet regularly throughout the year for dialogue on topics to enrich their faith development. Live Oak staff provides the facilitation materials, and individual groups determine when to meet and how to share leadership responsibilities. Members follow the guidelines for participation in a covenant group, which include a commitment to show up and to share the time.

Thank you to those of you who signed up for chalice circles. You will receive more information very soon. If you’ve been considering it and haven’t done so yet, there is still time. Please sign up HERE.

Acorn Groups

In addition, a new Acorn Group is forming. This group is intended for those who have been members of Live Oak for less than one year. They are a chance for you to get to know us better and for us to get to know you better. For more information or to sign up for an Acorn Group, please contact membership@liveoakuu.org.

Have an idea for a one time or ongoing online gathering that you are willing to lead? If you do, let us know and we’ll help with scheduling and publicity. And be sure to follow us on Facebook and subscribe to the newsletter for opportunities for online engagement.
